Food replicas for restaurant
Date: April 2015
Location: Altay, Russia
Client: Restaurant Trapeza
Category: Restaurants & Сafe
Client Overview
Trapeza Restaurant is located in the very heart of the Belokurikha resort, inside the Business Hotel Rossiya. The interior is designed in the warm and cozy style of French Provence, with zoning suitable for family celebrations, buffets, banquets, and small corporate events.
Challenges & Goals
The problem for the restaurant was low visitor numbers, so the management of Trapeza Restaurant had the task of attracting more guests — both residents of the Business Hotel Rossiya and visitors of the Belokurikha resort. They decided to focus on demonstrating the menu, which was the pride of the restaurant. Bright and beautiful food photos in the printed menu are seen only after guests enter the restaurant, so the table menu does not increase foot traffic.
It was decided to place realistic food replicas of main dishes and desserts — accurate copies of the restaurant’s menu items — in a restaurant display with food replicas near the entrance. This food replicas for restaurant solution was intended to attract attention, show real portions and prices, and encourage people to step inside. The realistic restaurant food replicas not only increase sales but also decorate the restaurant’s interior.
Our Solution
The workshop Nippon Dom created a set of food replicas for restaurant display, reproducing the most appealing dishes from the menu. Silicone of different densities was used to accurately reproduce the texture of each ingredient — as described in our materials and technologies section.
The restaurant display with food replicas was placed at the entrance so that guests could preview the menu before entering.
The showcase with realistic restaurant food replicas blended harmoniously with the Provençal interior, becoming both a decorative element and an effective sales tool. You can learn more about how such replicas are produced in the how we make food replicas section.
Problem Solving
During the delivery, one glass plate was accidentally broken, which made it impossible to use one of the food replicas for restaurant display as intended.
The client was offered two solutions:
Return the replica for replacement of the broken plate.
Replace the plate independently (the replica could be carefully detached from it), and as compensation for the inconvenience, the Nippon Dom workshop would create one additional food replica from the restaurant’s menu free of charge.
The client chose the second option and received a complimentary Original Shashlik food replica as a gift.
Results & Impact
Thanks to the food replicas for restaurant display, the restaurant’s attendance has significantly increased — during peak hours, there is even a small queue at the entrance. Guests make their choices faster, as they decide on their orders before they even enter the restaurant.
The attractive realistic restaurant food replicas of desserts also stimulate the desire to try them, which has increased the average bill. The restaurant display with food replicas has become not only a beautiful part of the facade and an easy guide for guests choosing their dishes, but also fulfilled its main purpose — to increase the restaurant’s profit.
